Beyond Blue works with the community to improve mental health and prevent suicide, so that all people in Australia can achieve their best possible mental health. As Sydney has been locked-down for another week, the CSR CX team would like to hold a virtual fund-raising event for the Beyond Blue foundation. This is a tough time for many, mental health more important now than ever and your support will help supporting people affected by anxiety, depression and suicide.

On June 19, 2021, Christina Zajicek passed away peacefully in her home in Colorado after a multi-year fight against cancer. Her journey and determination was an inspiration to many. In lieu of flowers, her family is requesting donations on behalf of Christina. As an organization, we encourage everyone who is interested to donate to Metavivor and GiGi's Playhouse. Donations will be matched by the organization as long as an employee has not reached their annual max. Her own words from her obituary created by her family: “You don’t know me yet, but my name is Christina Zajicek. I’m 28 years old, and I am dying. But, here’s the thing. So are you. There’s not enough time in every way you could interpret the statement, so I’ll make this short. You have the most wonderful gift of life and limitless potential to live and love fearlessly. All you want is within your reach; it just takes some action and hard work. In the meantime, love each day. Love each person. Make each day more magical for yourself and the people around you. Make decisions that make you happiest and don’t make decisions based on fear of what could happen, guilt, or the way everyone thinks things should be done. Look up from your phone more often. Feel in perpetual awe of the world because this is pretty damn incredible place filled with endless people to meet and learn from and countless places to explore and experience. Spend more time with people and in nature. Close your eyes and feel the sunlight on your face. Really feel it. Feel the warmth on your forehead and cheeks. Listen to the sound of the wind blowing the trees. Look at someone around you and be incredulous that everyone has come from a series of cells and molecules and good and awful experiences to be alive and be a part of your world at this very moment. Go all in. Whether it’s loving someone so deeply you feel it pulsing in every molecule of your being, investing every dollar you have in a wild dream you have, or making a decision that scares the living shit out of you. Find out what you are most afraid of and do it anyway. Know that all moments of pain will pass. Force yourself to feel so alive that you could swear electricity is literally running through your veins. Everything is infinitely possible and you are right where you need to be. But now you have the remarkable opportunity to be more brave, more honest, more kind, and more alive. Just go out and do it. Even though I am dying, this is not a story about death. It is a story to make you feel alive.”

In 2009 a family member was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and this has fundamentally changed their life. We are hopeful that research and treatment will continue to evolve and that is why each year I participate in the Bike MS event. Fundraising for this cause goes directly to funding not only research but families affected by multiple sclerosis. I hope you will consider helping me reach this year's goal of $2k to support finding a cure while aiding those in need.

Connected Portugal Week will close virtually, with a live performance by The Rock4' Operação Nariz Vermelho - Fundraiser Dance Party. Our main mission is to fundraise for Operação Nariz Vermelho, throughout the hour-long live performance, while promoting Operação Nariz Vermelho's main purpose - to ensure an ongoing program of intervention within the pediatric services of Portuguese hospitals through the visit of professional clowns. These artists have specialized training in the hospital environment and work in close collaboration with health professionals, performing actions adapted to each child and to each situation. We are fortunate that we can ride for pleasure and that healthcare is always close by. In other countries, healthcare is a lot more difficult to reach. There, a motorcycle is not a luxury, but of vital importance. That is why The Great Relay supports the aid organization Two Wheels For Life. Since 1989 they have been using motorcycles in African countries as a means of transport for healthcare. On their motorbikes, they educate and vaccinate communities, transport medicines and vaccines, support local doctors and provide more or better access to healthcare for as many as 47 million people. They advocate the Rights of the Child (survival, protection, development, and participation), help the children in Korea can grow up in a healthy and safe environment.

Hands On Tokyo provides meaningful bilingual volunteer opportunities to foster volunteerism and develop leaders to serve the needs of our community. During this COVID-19 pandemic, they are focusing on “what can we do now to support our community,” and working with various community groups, to deliver masks, handmade PPE gowns and “Thank You Baskets.” Each of these includes a handwritten thank you message and various sweets. These are delivered to our partner hospitals, local hospitals, welfare facilities, etc.

In November 2020, the CDC reported that 44% of Americans were coping with either depression or anxiety. Now, more than ever, it is critical to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles -- because that stigma often prevents individuals from seeking help. Bright Funds has established the 2021 Mental Health Awareness Month Fund composed of pre-vetted nonprofits committed to raising mental health awareness. Please join the Olde Blind Dog Cycling Club for our St. Paddy O’ Pedal Charity Bike Ride benefiting the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This event is a fun opportunity for cycling enthusiasts, families, friends, and the community to make a difference. John and Shawn Dickson lost their precious and vibrant daughter Kiersten to lung cancer. Treated by the compassionate doctors and staff at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, Kiersten's parents teamed up with the Olde Blind Dog Cycling Club, to create this event. Funds raised benefit research to help the fight against childhood cancer. Please join us in helping the Aflac Cancer and Bloods Disorders Center and the kids they see each year, by being a part of St. Paddy O' Pedal. In 2008 – my junior year of college, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had a craniotomy to remove the benign growth. In 2012 during a routine checkup I was told the tumor had returned and required me to undergo another brain surgery. My second surgery was performed at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Roswell Park is recognized as a premier comprehensive care center in America and strives to achieve excellence not only in patient treatment and care but also in clinical programs and research. The doctors, nurses, and staff were all exceptional at helping my family and me through this stressful and difficult time. Since my successful recovery, I have searched for a way to help support Roswell Park in furthering their research to find a cure for brain cancer and to bring more awareness and education regarding brain tumors. Buffalo Goes Gray was subsequently formed as a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to raise funds to bring awareness of brain tumors and further research for brain cancer treatment at Roswell Park. With the help of the generous sponsors and donations that we receive each year, we have been able to donate over $150,000 to Roswell Park. Since the inaugural event in 2014, the money raised goes to Roswell Park and in particular the SurVax M Vaccine. The SurVax M vaccine is a unique vaccine being studied as a treatment for glioblastoma at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
